Prezentacja Filipów 1914-1930
Już 9 sierpnia 1914 r. na granicy Filipów – Mieruniszki doszło do incydentu na Froncie Północno-Zachodnim. Tego dnia rozegrała się na naszych terenach pierwsza potyczka tej wojny. 14 sierpnia Armia Rennenkampfa przekroczyła w Filipowie granicę Prus Wschodnich. Spalone zostały m.in. Mieruniszki i Garbas.
W okresie od września do końca października 1914 r. na naszych ziemiach przebiegał front wrogich armii. Filipów znajdował się bezpośrednio na zapleczu działań wojennych. Był świadkiem walk, przemarszu wojsk, doznał grabieży i zniszczeń. Z tego okresu zachowała się seria pocztówek wykonanych w czasie sesji fotograficznej 16 października 1914 r. Wycofujące się wojska niemieckie wysadziły w pierwszych dniach listopada wieżę kościoła w Filipowie.
Ważnym historycznie elementem krajobrazu województwa podlaskiego są ruiny kościoła ewangelickiego w Mieruniszkach. Jest to jedna z nielicznych, trwałych ruin, chroniona prawem RP. Pierwsze wzmianki o kościele pochodzą z 1545 roku. W 1656 r. został on zniszczony przez Tatarów, a w 1710 r. odbudowany.
Nowy kościół posiadał: barokowy ołtarz wykonany w Olecku na początku XVIII w., w tzw. stylu gdańskiego baroku, barokową kazalnicę oraz kilka starych płaskorzeźb.
W czasie I wojny światowej w kościele umieszczono sortownię poczty polowej. Całkowite zniszczenie kościoła nastąpiło podczas II wojny światowej, dokładnie w rocznicę 400.lecia istnienia parafii ewangelickiej w Mieruniszkach.
W 1992r. Rada Gminy przyjęła uchwałę, na mocy której ruiny kościoła przekazane zostały Kurii Biskupiej w Olsztynie.
Obiekt jest dostępny dla zwiedzających.
Fragment kwatery wojennej z lat 1914-1918 wpisanej do rejestru zabytków. W kwaterze znaleźć można dwadzieścia mogił żołnierzy niemieckich oraz rosyjskich, którzy zginęli w czasie I wojny światowej.
Zdjęcie 1: Pierwszą ofiarą wojny na naszych terenach był Gottlieb Derlath. Na jego nagrobku wyryto: „Tu spoczywa Gottlieb Derlath zabity przez Rosjan dnia 9.8.1914″.
Zdjęcie 2: Na niewielkim cmentarzu wojennym znajdującym się w lesie, między wsiami Piecki i Taciewo spoczywa 22 żołnierzy niemieckich i aż 239 żołnierzy rosyjskich, którzy zginęli w październiku 1914 roku. Niestety cmentarz ten bardzo ciężko jest odnaleźć – nie ma bramy, ogrodzenia, ani krzyża, a nagrobki poległych już dawno skryły się pod ziemią.
Jedną z zasadniczych jednostek organizacyjnych Korpusu Ochrony Pogranicza, która pełniła służbę ochronną na granicy polsko-niemieckiej była strażnica KOP Filipów, funkcjonująca w latach 1928-1938. W jej skład wchodziło 18 żołnierzy, których zadaniem była bezpośrednia ochrona granicy państwowej.
Odcinek KOP Filipów podzielony był na pododcinki strażnic.
Trudno jest ustalić, kiedy dokładnie wśród oficerów i podoficerów 29. Batalionu KOP w Suwałkach narodziła się idea ufundowania i wybudowania w Filipowie pomnika ku czci Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego.
Pierwsze przygotowania do jego budowy ruszyły w 1929 r. Pomysłodawcą wybudowania pomnika był najprawdopodobniej mjr. Jan Józef Kraus, ówczesny dowódca jednostki, inicjator wielu akcji kulturalno-oświatowych batalionu.
Kraus był jednym z inicjatorów utworzenia orkiestry i teatru amatorskiego. M.in. również dzięki niemu strzelcy suwalskiego KOP brali udział w marszu Sulejówek-Belweder.
Obowiązki dowódcy 29. Batalionu KOP objął 7 lipca 1929 r. Wcześniej jako kwatermistrz 17. Batalionu KOP był zaangażowany w prace nad odsłonięciem pamiątkowego obelisku Marszałka Piłsudskiego w Dawigródku.
Przygotowania do zbiórki funduszy na budowę obelisku w Filipowie rozpoczęto prawdopodobnie pod koniec 1929 r. Niestety budżet formacji był ograniczony, dlatego jedyną możliwością pozyskania środków finansowych na ten cel była kwesta wśród kadry, żołnierzy czy społeczeństwa, a także organizacja akcji kulturalnych organizowanych przez jednostkę.
Wśród takich wydarzeń wymienia się np. zabawę taneczną zorganizowaną w Filipowie dnia 23 lutego 1930 r, przez podoficerów Kampanii Granicznej „Filipów”. Honorowy protektorat objął mjr. Kraus. Na zabawę przybył o godz. 20:00, w towarzystwie dowódcy kampanii, kpt. Bronisława Feliksa Łozińskiego.
Podczas imprezy odegrana została przez orkiestrę pieśń „Pierwsza Brygada”, odtańczony był także tradycyjny polonez. Całkowity dochód uzyskany był ze sprzedaży biletów i wynosił 160 zł. Przeznaczono go w całości na fundusz budowy pomnika.
18 marca w Filipowie miał miejsce uroczysty capstrzyk żołnierski z okazji obchodów imienin Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego. Wieczorem strzelcy kompanii KOP oraz junacy miejscowego ośrodka Przysposobienia Wojskowego wraz z orkiestrą Straży Ogniowej przemarszowali przez miasto z pochodniami.
19 marca odbyły się nabożeństwa intencyjne w kościele parafialnym oraz miejscowej synagodze. Następnie w sali filipowskiej Straży Ogniowej wręczono honorowe odznaki KOP. Nagrodzeni zostali zasłużeni strzelcy najstarszego rocznika, którzy kończyli już służbę w suwalskim batalionie. Nastąpiła także defilada żołnierzy oraz przemarsz miejscowych organizacji i stowarzyszeń.
Podczas uroczystej akademii śpiewano pieśni narodowe i recytowano wiersze patriotyczne. Na strażnicach słuchano pogadanek poświęconych wodzowi, marszałkowi Józefowi Piłsudskiemu.
21 czerwca podoficerskie koło dramatyczne suwalskiego batalionu gościło w Sejnach. Strzelcy pod kierunkiem kierownika i reżysera, sierż. Teodora Chmurzyńskiego odegrali dwie jednoaktówki pt. Powiew wolności i Miecz Damoklesa. Obie sztuki wzbudziły w widzach silne uczucia i przyczyniły się do zdobycia kolejnych środków na budowę pomnika.
29 czerwca w majątku Karolinów koło Filipowa odbył się wiejski festyn zorganizowany przez podoficerów kampanii granicznej. Wcześniej utworzono komitet organizacyjny, który zebrał liczne fanty i upominki od mieszkańców Filipowa i okolicznych wsi, oficerów i podoficerów. Zdobyte przedmioty wykorzystano jako nagrody w grach i zabawach rozgrywanych podczas festynu, m.in. loterii fantowej, strzelnicy, kole szczęścia. W trakcie festynu odbył się konkurs piękności pań i brzydoty panów. Skorzystać było można z błyskawicznej fotografii „wróżka”, gabinetu osobliwości i menażerii. Okoliczna ludność bawiła się aż do zmroku przy muzyce batalionowej orkiestry.
Uroczyste odsłonięcie pomnika w Filipowie miało miejsce 6 lipca 1930 r. Tego dnia miasteczko przybrało odświętny wygląd: na budynkach powiewały flagi, a na balkonach wywieszano portrety Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego.
Uroczystości rozpoczęły się poranną mszą świętą odprawioną w miejscowym kościele. W nabożeństwie i uroczystościach uczestniczyli m.in. dowódca Okręgu Korpusu nr III w Grodnie – gen. bryg. Aleksander Litwinowicz, inspektor Formacji Pieszych KOP – płk Stanisław Sobieszczak, ppłk Zdzisław Kwiatkowski – dowódca 3. Pułku Szwoleżerów Mazowieckich w Suwałkach, ppłk Witold Adrian Komierowski – dowódca 41. Suwalskiego Pułku Piechoty Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego, delegaci 23. Batalionu KOP w Oranach i 24. Batalionu KOP w Sejnach.
Władze cywilne reprezentował starosta suwalski Olgierd Malinowski. Stawiły się również liczne delegacje stowarzyszeń i organizacji ze swoimi sztandarami oraz mieszkańcy Filipowa i okolicy.
Po nabożeństwie uczestnicy udali się na rynek. Tam do zgromadzonych przemówił mja Jan Kraus, który „prosto i z serca wyraził całe gorące uczucia dla Pana Marszałka…”. Po jego wystąpieniu kompania honorowa 29. Batalionu KOP w Suwałkach sprezentowała broń. Odsłonięcia obelisku dokonał gen. bryg. Aleksander Litwinowicz. Odbyło się to przy dźwiękach hymnu narodowego.
Przed odsłoniętym pomnikiem, przy dźwiękach marsza fanfarowego odegranego przez orkiestrę batalionu, odbyła się defilada oddziałów wojskowych oraz przybyłych stowarzyszeń. Uroczystości zakończyło wspólne śniadanie z udziałem przybyłych delegatów wojskowych.
Należy wspomnieć, że miejsce wystawienia pomnika nie było przypadkowe, ponieważ to właśnie w Filipowie stacjonowało dowództwo kampanii granicznej, a jego żołnierze pełnili ciężką służbę graniczną. Przebiegająca w pobliżu granica polsko-pruska była bardzo niebezpieczna, trwała polsko-niemiecka „wojna celna”, która przynosiła śmiertelne ofiary. Mimo to, oficerowie i podoficerowie starali się zdobyć sympatię miejscowego ludu poprzez m.in. organizację różnorakich akcji kulturalnych i oświatowych.
Obelisk został zniszczony w czasie wojny. Oryginalną, pamiątkową płytę udało się jednak zachować – była przechowywana przez rodzinę Sowulewskich, a w 2005r. umieszczona została na zrekonstruowanym pomniku.
